The Vicenza workshop developed a language of supple leather and woven surfaces. Intrecciato became an identifying feature that could travel from a small clutch to a generous tote.

Woven leather as a signature in its own right.
Founded by Michele Taddei and Renzo Zengiaro, Bottega Veneta built recognition around leatherwork rather than a prominent logo. Its intrecciato weave remains the link between very different design eras.

01 / The house
The story behind the name.
2001–2018
Tomas Maier’s restraint
After Gucci Group acquired the house in 2001, Maier made craft and discreet design central to its revival. The Cabat expressed that approach through a seemingly simple woven tote.
2018–2024
New scale, new textures
Daniel Lee amplified volume and weave in bags such as the Pouch and Cassette. Matthieu Blazy followed with intricate leather techniques and the Andiamo.
2025
Louise Trotter arrives
Trotter became creative director in 2025. The enduring question remains how to make exceptional leatherwork useful, expressive and recognisably Bottega.
