The Monogram · About

An independent reference for handbag pricing.

The Monogram is a price-comparison library for luxury and contemporary handbags. We track ~50,000 bags across ~130 brands, normalized to 16 regions, and keep prices fresh through a weekly scraping pipeline plus a hand-curated catalog for the brands that block automated access.

We started The Monogram because we got tired of opening five browser tabs to compare a Chanel Classic Flap across Mytheresa, Saks, the Chanel boutique, and resale. The same bag, with the same authentication, can vary by 20–40% across regions once VAT, sales tax, and shipping are accounted for. There was no neutral place to see all of that at once. So we built it.

What you'll find here

Every bag in our library has a dedicated page that shows brand-direct retail prices across regions, authorized-seller prices (department stores + designer aggregators), authenticated resale prices, and our tax calculator — which tells you whether buying in Paris and flying home, or shipping the bag direct to the US, works out cheaper after VAT refunds and import duty.

We also publish Style Notes — short editorial pieces grounded in our catalog data: dupe roundups, buying guides, trend analysis, and the occasional opinion column.

How we make money

Some outbound links to retailers can earn us a small commission when you buy through them. We never write reviews to favor commission-paying retailers, and we surface all available sellers — affiliate or not — for every bag. The full breakdown is on the affiliate disclosure page.

What we are not

We are not affiliated with Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermès, Dior, Goyard, Gucci, Prada, or any other brand we catalogue. We are not an authentication service. We are not a marketplace — every link on this site sends you to a third-party retailer to complete the purchase.
